- Discontinue prescription retinoids and AHAs/BHAs for 5 days before laser sessions
- Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks before laser treatments
- Do not use abrasive scrubs or harsh cleansers for 3 days before
- Inform your doctor of all current skincare products and medications
- Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup and topical products
After Your Treatment
- Apply the prescribed post-treatment cream as directed — do not skip
- SPF 50+ every morning is mandatory — no exceptions
- Do not pick at any flaking, crusting, or purging lesions
- Avoid heat and sweating for 48 hours after laser sessions
- Use only prescribed or approved skincare products during your treatment course
- Report any unusual reactions to your doctor immediately

Melasma is triggered by UV exposure, hormonal changes (particularly from contraceptives or pregnancy), and genetics. It cannot be permanently cured but can be effectively managed and kept under control with the right treatments and sun protection routine.
